When asked what was her reason for such vicious attack on Naomi? She said that it was because of a dispute between the two friends over a boy.
The pair has been friends since secondary school, but fell apart in april 2011 when Naomi accused Konye of making a pass on her boyfriend at the time and also called her a monster.
Konye confessed she disguised herself in a Muslim veil when carrying out the crime. The jury heard how Mary had sent Naomi a text that read "OMG, I can't believe it." a day after the attack on her friend. T The acid has disfigured Naomi for life.
However, Konye later claimed in court that Naomi staged the attack and asked her (Mary) to 'play the stalker' and throw the acid on her face, which was all part of an elaborate scheme to get rich and famous.
But the jury of eight men and four women weren't buy that and found her guilty. Mary Konye will be sentenced March 7th, 2014.

ReplyDeleteThis is so tragic and senseless. I pray this young lady heals emotionality as well as physically, and that Mary is found guilty and punished accordingly.
